The Sigmon Stringers are a three-generation bluegrass / gospel band from Newton, NC. The original members, Clinton (guitar & vocals) and his sons Randy (guitar & vocals) and Mark (fiddle), and life-long friend Ray Barger (bass & vocals) have been performing since the 70’s.
Bringing a new dimension to “old-time” bluegrass; the third generation has been added. Randy’s daughter Anna (banjo) and Mark’s children: Beau (guitar & mandolin), Mollie (mandolin & vocals) and Maggie (fiddle & vocals) complete the band.
This is a band that plays traditional bluegrass and gospel as well as newer songs with a bluegrass “twist”. With mixing of old and new, the Sigmon Stringers appeal to both the older and younger audiences.
The band has performed at numerous venues including Bele Chere in Asheville, The Rex Theatre in Galax, WDVX Knoxville Blue Plate Special, WPAQ Merry Go Round Show in Mt Airy, Blue Ridge Music Center on the Parkway, WKBC’s Hometown Opry in North Wilkesboro, Hart’s Square Festival (Hickory), Galax Leaf and String Festival, HoustonFest in Galax, Concerts on the Lawn Series in Boone, Red, White, and Bluegrass Festival in Morganton, Robert Kerns- Blue Christmas Fundraiser and Murray’s Mill Fall Festival. The band has also been featured at the premier Americana music festival Merlefest in North Wilkesboro for 6 years and the IBMA (International Bluegrass Music Association) World of Bluegrass in Raleigh.
Music is the catalyst that allows our family to be take time out of our busy (sometimes hectic) schedules of work, college, and school to slow down and continue our family’s musical tradition. We are blessed that we can play music as a family!
